5 TIPS TO MAKE CURLS WAVES LAST

When Clients Say “My Hair Can’t Hold A Curl”… Do This!

Is there anything more frustrating than perfecting a haircut or color service and you go to style a full head of beachy waves, and the hair falls flat?! The curl struggle is REAL. Read tricks for getting curl-resistant hair to style the way you want it to—and actually last!

1: Don’t weigh the hair down with too much product.

Go light in the pre-curl prep process, said Melissa Maloney (@live_love_dohair) in a recent IG post.

  1. Prep with Moroccanoil® Treatment Light, Melissa’s go-to for clients with fine hair or lighter blondes to add shine without weighing the hair down.
  2. Next, apply one pump of Moroccanoil® Thickening Lotion to build fullness, height and hold before curling.

2: Apply Hairspray BEFORE Curling.

Do you curl the entire head and then pile on the hairspray at the end? This might be causing curls to fall flat more quickly. Instead, BEFORE curling, Melissa layers Moroccanoil® Perfect Defense to protect from heat damage and Moroccanoil® Luminous Hairspray Medium to build a workable foundation with weightless hold.

3: Turn down the heat.

Sometimes, you simply have to work through a problem until you find the best answer—and that’s exactly what Melissa did when experimenting with different heat settings. After turning down the heat from 430 degrees (her typical go-to) to 390 degrees, she found this: Holding the curl longer with a lower heat setting vs. working fast with high heat will make curls last. avast secureline vpn license key 2018

4: Build volume at the root.

Before curling each section, Brittany Banda (@texasbalayage) applies Moroccanoil® Root Boost to build extra volume at the root section-by-section. This will add the extra lift needed, especially on finer-haired clients.

5: Finish with a boost of texture.

Instead of reaching for a hairspray with an extreme hold that will add heaviness to the hair, Melissa applies Moroccanoil® Dry Texture Spray to give undone styles a voluminous and flexible hold.
